About Us
Since 1981, The World of Interiors has documented the rich diversity of ways in which we live, showcasing the stylish and the unexpected as well as applauding individuality. It is our belief that rooms and interiors are receptacles for our identity and the objects we choose to surround ourselves with hold meaning – they say something about who we are.
The World of Interiors was the original indie publication. We were anti-trend long before being anti-trend became fashionable. It’s our job to place stories in your path that might challenge you, or reveal something – to supply a little grit before you find the pearl. We are here to delight, disrupt and surprise, as well as define the culture we exist in.
While interiors are at the heart of what we do, WoI showcases stage, screen, literature, fashion, travel and the visual arts.
Meet the editor
Emily Tobin joined the title in 2022 after 11 years at House & Garden where she wore many hats – including arts and features editor. She was also the host of a weekly talk series. Under Emily's leadership, The World of Interiors launched worldofinteriors.com and introduced new features such as Room for Debate; Wellsprings and an annual writing prize. Emily is on the steering committee for United in Design and in 2018 she collaborated on a book charting the history of English interiors with decorator David Mlinaric and photographer Derry Moore. She champions story-telling that is intelligent, weird, witty and wide-reaching in its curiosity.
Headquartered in London, The World of Interiors is made up of a small team of photographers, writers, editors, designers, and artists from around the world. Explore our A-Z Author Directory.

How The World of Interiors earns revenue
Our goal is to document the rich diversity of ways in which we live, showcasing the stylish and the unexpected as well as applauding individuality. To fund our efforts, The World of Interiors runs advertisements and occasionally partners with advertisers to produce sponsored content, videos, events, and other collaborations. We also earn affiliate revenue through products seen on our website and other platforms, frequently via products that our writers and editors have personally used and love.
